Civex is the fintech company founded to increase the participation of individual investors in proxy voting by hosting a community where individual investors, shareholder advocates, and publicly traded companies can engage and discuss issues including upcoming proxy votes. Mike has more than two decades of financial services industry experience in sales distribution strategy, solutions, data, and analytics. As managing director at Legg Mason, he partnered with senior Sales and Marketing leadership to develop, implement, and lead business strategies using a data driven approach. Always focused on strategic execution, he was known for his success in leading the implementation of strategies powered by the effective use of tools and technology. Being in the asset management business, Mike witnessed firsthand the emergence of impact/ESG investing and saw it rise in importance. Previously, Mike was a senior director at UBS where he led multiple financial and business strategy functions within their investment bank.
Mike is a degreed and licensed accountant registered with FINRA. He lives in Newtown, CT with his wife and three children. In his free time, he enjoys time with his family, cooking, traveling, and the outdoors.
John is a senior business technology executive with more than 20 years of experience in financial services. He specializes in experience application development, and has led developers and architects in delivering effective investment solutions technology. Known as a visionary to his peers, John saw the glaring need for a proxy solution while managing his personal investments, and began to think through a proxy solution technology which led him to founding Civex.
John lives in Newtown, Connecticut, with his wife and children. In his free time, he enjoys time with his family, cooking, and participating in a cryptocurrency investment team.
Tim is an analytical and strategic senior marketing and client relations executive with 20 years experience improving strategies and teams across marketing, product, technology, and client service groups. Tim is a lifelong learner – recently completing the Executive Education program at MIT Sloan School of Management – delivering cutting edge business and marketing strategies. He has managed a Quality Control team providing oversight to operational areas including the Proxy Team. As a result, he saw first-hand the opportunity to provide a voice to the retail investor which is now coming to fruition with Civex.
Tim and his family live in Connecticut. He and his wife are Founders of the nonprofit, The Joseph Keane Fund, at Yale New Haven Health Bridgeport Hospital, impacting the mental health space as it supports families and clinicians manage traumatic experiences. In his free time, Tim enjoys time with his family, sports, and music.
Prior to Civex, Lily was a research analyst at Boston Common Asset Management and evaluated companies’ business practices and ESG integration. For two proxy seasons she assisted The Investor Advocates for Social Justice by voting proxies on behalf of their socially responsible clients. She has become very familiar with shareholder engagement work and has been exposed to the resolution writing process. Passionate about learning the current SEC landscape around corporate governance and accountability, Lily is working towards the CFA ESG Certification.
Phil is a leader in the Fintech and Asset Management industries. Phil has served as Founder/CEO of Exponential ETFs, an ETF issuer and sub-advisor (acquired by Toroso Asset Management), Managing Director at New York Stock Exchange, Chief Investment Officer at Signal Advisors, and Founder/CEO of atNav, an early-stage capital markets technology company. Phil is an active voice advocating on behalf of entrepreneurs and innovators in the media, on his substack, and through podcasting.
Evan is the former founder and CEO of Prattle, a FinTech/AI company that was acquired in 2019. He is currently the founder and managing partner of EAS Innovation Consulting, as well as the co-founder of MarketReader. Prior to his entrepreneurial endeavors, Evan earned his PhD at Harvard University where he developed expertise in data science that led to the development of novel data products at the intersection of finance, economics and AI. Since selling Prattle, Evan has been focused on supporting the startup ecosystem by serving as an advisor and/or angel investor to high-potential startups.
Jeremy founded Antifragile Advisors in 2012 to accelerate high growth companies at the seed to series C stages including Data.World, TripleBlind, CirrusMD, and Revelio Labs. Jeremy is a venture advisor at Mercury Fund and a venture partner at NextGen Ventures. Jeremy previously built and became Global Head of the Alternative Data business at Bloomberg. Jeremy brings deep expertise in the power of data, cloud, open source and blockchain to automate processes, personalize experiences, and improve ownership & governance. 20+ years of experience with global M&A / capital markets at Citi & JPMorgan and he accelerated and exited 2 companies in Fintech, Estimize & Ace Portal. Jeremy is a well-known voice in fintech, data, and AI with 31+k followers on LinkedIn.
